Fleas have become the bane of pets summer existence.  However, to safely use pesticides, you need to understand the life cycle of the flea, the toxicity of the product you are using, and just what the product is supposed to do.

Being more of a naturalist, and wanting to protect not only our pets, ourselves, but also our environment, it is an ongoing struggle as to how to deal with fleas and ticks.

I am going to be working for sometime in the future on a page that explains the toxicity of the many chemicals that are being widely distributed and used on our pets, which also brings them into use on ourselves and our children.

Please Know This
A Pesticide is NOT a Medicine!

I become livid every time I see a commercial or an advertisement being presented to us that indicates a flea and or tick pesticide is a medicine.

I don't know how these companies are getting away with this, and if I could put a stop to it I would. 

Pesticides are developed to kill.  That does not make them a medicine, unless you are also intending to kill whatever you are using them on.  There is that of course, because over time with extended use, overuse, or misuse, killing of the pet can of course be the result of using the product.

Please do not think, that a Pesticide is medicine, it is definitely not!
