Learn the boarding kennel business, while actually practicing hands on at an operating kennel in our three month Intern Program! This is the most comprehensive Kennel Manager School you could ever hope to attend.
If your dream is to own or operate a boarding kennel business, but you don't know if you would like it, or even how to go about it, this is your answer. Before you commit yourself and your own resources to the purchase of an existing kennel, the building of your own kennel, or going to work for an established kennel business. Our Kennel Manager Intern program will give you the experience and skills you need to operate your own kennel business or qualify as an experienced manager for someone else.
Our intensive "Live It!" hands on training academy for kennel management or ownerhip, is your opportunity for one of the best life changing careers available. If you love animals, have always wanted to work with animals plus dreamed of owning your own business. We have your answer. This is the opportunity of a lifetime for you. Our Kennel Manager Intern program consists of three full months of living the business of a Board Kennel Manager/Owner. You will immerse yourself in the daily operations of the boarding kennel business. You will have classroom lecture and training sessions. Plus, you will pass written exams on a weekly basis to make sure you are building a solid knowledgebase for owning or operating a Boarding Kennel Business.
Over the three months of your internship your training will include:
This three month academy takes place at our boarding/training/grooming facilty that has been in continuous operation for over 20 years, and/or at our "original" boarding kennel facility, so you will gain experience at two completely different locations and setups.
In addition we will have travel tours of operating kennels, humane societies and animal control facilities so you wittness first hand how like businesses operate.
You will gain the necessary knowledge and skills to certify in the American Boarding Kennels Association Pet Care Technician Levels I and II, and American Red Cross CPR/First Aid. All included in this course.
Due to the intense nature of this program, it must be understood that this three months you as the student will be totally immersed in the learning process and operating as a clone of a kennel manager/owner. You will be living the life of a boarding kennel manager/owner, meaning no days off, no holidays and catching up on your own life later on. It is strongly suggested that you do not bring anyone with you or even a pet. You will be immersed in the intensity of learning skills in three months that most people take a great many years to learn.
Study materials, written, audio, tape, and dvd are all provided upon arrival. During our weekday classroom discussions there will be daily assigned reading and other homework in preparation of the classroom work for the following day. Each Friday there will be a written exam on the materials we have covered during the week, with a final written and practical skills examination at the end of the course.
Cost of the course is $26,900.00, interns are responsible for their meals and personal items. Lodging is Non-Smoking and close to campus and is a part of the entire package which may consist of sharing a cabin with one or two other interns. Kitchen and Laundry privelages available at the kennel and included. If you do not intend to stay at one of our chosen locations, please contact me for an adjusted price. A non-refundable $5,000.00 deposit holds a space in the academy for you. Balance due 45 days prior to the academy start date.
On Campus Lodging when available is at Kennel Lane House, or Kitchen Branch Cottage, either of which will afford you the opportunity to watch the moon rise over the Appalachain mountains in the evening as you rest after a long day of learning. In the morning (if you are an early riser) you can watch the sun rise over the same mountain chain in the peace and serenity of our isolated campus. A real joy for all who experience the luxuary of staying with us.
